Having previously worked at the Mortlach Distillery where he was employed as a clerk and then a manager. This is where he learned the distilling trade and was quick to catch on to how successful you could become. David Stewart the Balvenie Malt Master is one of the industries most d whisky experts. David created the process wood finishing and changed the industry and the the flavour of whisky. This flagship whisky from the series of Port Wood finishes was matured for no less than 21 years but most importantly finished in 30 year old port pipes. The whisky is extremely balanced and slightly smoky which makes for a great early evening dram and after dinner tipple. Our Tasting Notes Nose: Poached peaches leads to wood chip and subtle smoke. Taste: Extremely balanced with summer berries, Christmas pudding and green grapes. Honey sweetness and a slight herbal/floral undertone. Finish: Bitter sweet chocolate and oak..
