Established in 2009 and five years later the team were filling the first barrel. The story of Kingsbarns Single Malt Scotch Whisky begins with the conversion of a historic and semi-derelict farmsteading into a distillery. A former golf caddie, Clement realised there was no nearby whisky distillery for the course’s visitors to go and see. The original building was built around 1800 as part of East Newhall Farm by Thomas Erskine, the ninth Earl of Kellie, this charming Georgian farm steading once serviced Cambo House and the Estate. This Single Malt has been distilled using Fife barley and matured in ex-Oloroso American Oak Sherry Butts used previously for maturing Sherry. These casks were chosen for their gentle oak flavours and sherry rich sweetness to compliment the fruit character of the Kingsbarns spirit. Our Tasting Notes Nose: cinnamon spice and fruit buns, sweet and spiced Palate: fruitcake with continued spice and cinnamon, slight hints of vanilla and milk chocolate Finish: fresh fruits, milk chocolate and a slight hint of spice.
